Happy New Year! I hope 2010 is treating you well.

New Products:

I have just added more new products to the Pink Wings website. The FAITH pink ribbon shirt is absolutely adorable. It runs small and comes in sizes Small-XL.  It is a light pink burn out shirt with brown at the shoulders. There is a crystal pink ribbon on the front. The photo should be on the website soon.

As promised, Pink Wings is doing our part to GO GREEN and has brought in reusable pink ribbon grocery tote bags. These come in 4 fun colors and designs and are just $5 each. These make great gifts for your team or donors if you are participating in a breast cancer awareness walk and drop to just $2 a bag when you purchase 48 or more. I have also added Pink Ribbon gloves and pink ribbon elastic bracelets to the store. These are also just $5 each and make great gifts. The new pins are in stock and ready to ship. We have a Snow Ski Girl pink ribbon pin, Belly Dancer pink ribbon pin and Boobies Make Me Smile pins in 3 Day Walker, 3 Day Supporter and plain. You can view the entire line of new product at www.pinkwings.com Just click on store and then new items. Page 4 of new items is where you will find the grocery totes, socks, elastic bracelets and gloves.

Pink Wings Chicago 3 Day for the Cure update:

I am happy to announce that the Pink Wings team for the Chicago 3 Day for the Cure is already at 17 members! We are adding new team members almost every week and should quickly surpass the 21 team members that we had at the Boston Breast Cancer 3 Day last year.  We have walkers and crew from all over the country.  If you would like to join our team as either a walker or crew member, simply go to www.the3day.org and click on register. Choose Chicago for your walk and then type Pink Wings in the search. Click on the blue link that says Register as a team member and type in pinkwings for the code to join the team. It’s that easy!  This is a great way to get in shape, meet new people, have an experience of a lifetime and raise money and awareness for breast cancer. What have you got to lose?!  The Chicago walk is August 6-8, 2010.

Up Coming Events:

For the 7th year in a row, Pink Wings will have a booth at the Annual Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer in Atlanta, GA.  The conference is from Friday, February 26th to Sunday February 28th at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel.  For more information go to: http://www.youngsurvivorsconference.org/

This conference is so important for young women diagnosed with breast cancer and it is the only one of its kind. Over the last several years I have given a guardian angel scholarship so that all young women can attend, regardless of their financial situation. Unfortunately this year, the demand for the scholarships has been much higher than ever before and funds are running out. I challenge other pink ribbon websites, stores and individuals to match my donation of $540 to help young women attend this very important conference. Here is part of the letter I just received from the Young Survival Coalition asking for help:

For over a decade Young Survival Coalition has worked hard to make sure that no

women diagnosed with breast cancer under 40 faced this disease alone. An essential part of that mission is bringing together women, physicians and caregivers, fostering an environment of learning, support and fellowship.

One of the ways we do this is by co-hosting the Annual Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer. As the 2010 conference date approaches, we are both thrilled and heavy hearted to have so many people hoping to attend. The opportunity to attend the conference can be life changing. For many of us, this year has been financially difficult. Through fundraising efforts and sponsorship, we have been able to provide both travel and registration grants to over 350 attendees thus far.   But there are so many more women still hoping to receive a grant to attend and we have simply run out of funds.

This year, we have seen an unprecedented need by potential attendees for financial assistance. To date, we have provided nearly $200,000 in scholarship funds, but many more women who need financial assistance are still hoping to attend. Nearly 100 young women are on the waitlist anxiously hoping that additional funds will become available. Can we count on your support? With your generous support, you can help send more young survivors to this important conference and help them to get the information and support they need while facing one of the most challenging times of their lives.

A gift of:

$600 – will provide a full travel grant to one woman

$250 – will provide two partial travel grants

$135 – will provide a registration grant to one woman

A gift of any amount will make a difference.  You can make a secure online donation by going to this web address and clicking the Donate button. https://www.youngsurvival.org/donate/ Please put “Conference” in the comment box. You can also mail a check written out to Young Survival Coalition (with the word “Conference Donation” in the MEMO or on a note) and send to:

Thank you for anything that you can do. This organization means the world to me as it was here that I learned I was not alone as a 33-year-old diagnosed with breast cancer 13 years ago.

I will be in Louisville Kentucky on April 20th for the Essentially Women Focus on the Future tradeshow. If any of my wonderful Pink Wings customers live in this area and would like to come out and help me at my booth for this event, I would love to hear from you. Just email me at czinszer@yahoo.com

I will be in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada from June 10-13th, 2010 for the International Dragon Boat Festival.

The Pink Wings Newsletter for August 2009

posted by:

Hi,

It is August already and all the commercials are about Back To School…I am still enjoying my summer!

Big News at Pink Wings

We are now branching out to All Cancer Awareness!! If you have a cause with a ribbon color other than pink- we can help you out. Any of our popular pink ribbon pins, key chains or temporary tattoos can now come in other cancer awareness colors with a min. order of 25 pins or key chains or 1,000 tattoos. We have over 150 original designs to choose from! Some of the options can be seen at www.allcancerawareness.com These items would be special order and take 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Pink Wings had a fantastic team at the Boston Breast Cancer 3-Day 60 mile walk July 24-26. This was a big walk for me as it was my 10th Breast Cancer 3 Day, my 10th year walking and I was now over 10 years cancer free. We had 19 walkers and 2 crew members from all over the country. All 19 members of the Pink Wings team wore pink wings as we walked to Boston (except for on the first day when we had torrential rain from the start of the walk to mid-afternoon). My 15-year-old daughter Sedona walked along side me for the first time…or I should say- ahead of me. She was also part of the opening and closing ceremonies, carrying the banner that said For My Mother. I got to go up on stage with her for closing ceremonies as her honoree. What a special treat that was!
I have to send a special thank you to Lori Rice, my co-captain from Chicago. She helped to grow the team (almost ½ the team was from Chicago), pick out team gear, put together goodie bags for the team members and arrange fundraising events. Our team ranged in age from 15 to 50 and consisted of 4 female Chicago cops, 2 mother/daughters, 3 sets of sisters, 2 survivors and 2 women who had lost their mother’s to breast cancer. Almost every team member was having a birthday within a month of the walk (many within a week of the walk) and our wonderful teammate Kara, picked up a big birthday cake with pink ribbons and brought it to our team dinner the night before the walk. This is where we also gave out the pink ribbon goodie bags to our team members. We found out later we were the envy of other teams having dinner at this restaurant as they were wondering Where are our goodie bags? and Why don’t we have a cute pink ribbon cake?
Pink Wings was the 3rd largest team and raised the 4th highest amount of money for teams in Boston. We have raised $45,000 with money still coming in! The Boston Walk had 1,600 walkers and raised over 4 million dollars for breast cancer research and education. I think that is pretty incredible!
On the last day of the walk, just after breakfast, my daughter and I chopped off our hair for Locks Of Love. My daughter cut off 14” and I cut off 11”. You can view a photo of this on the front page of the website. You can also view an article written for our hometown newspaper about my participation in the 3 Day by clicking on the link on the left of the home page that says Press.
I am hoping Pink Wings will have a team for the 2010 Twin Cities 3 Day. Please contact me if you would like information on joining the Pink Wings team.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
Pink Wings will have a booth at the Play for the Cure in Salem, OR on August 15th. This is an awesome softball tournament with proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
On August 22nd Pink Wings will have a booth at a health fair in Santa Monica, California at the 3rd Street Promenade (between the 1200 and 1300 blocks). If you live in Southern California, come on down. Mention that you receive the Pink Wings newsletter and get a free Pink Ribbon pin with a purchase of $10 or more. If you are fundraising for an upcoming walk- this would be a great opportunity to view all of the pink ribbon pins that are available at fundraising pricing. The new Fight Like A Girl pins are in and they look awesome in person!

In September, Pink Wings will be at the Portland Race for the Cure. I am hoping to have a booth at the Race for the Cure Health Expo in the convention center again this year too.

On Sept. 26th, Pink Wings will have a booth at the Factors Annual Breast Cancer Conference in Tampa, Florida. This year the conference will be held at Higgins Hall located on the campus of St. Lawrence Catholic Church at 5221 N. Himes Ave. Tampa, Fl. 33614

On October 14th, Pink Wings will be in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition Annual Conference. This conference is held at the Harrisburg Hilton. For more information about this conference, go to www.pabreastcancer.org

All of the new Fight Like A Girl pins and tattoos are now in stock and shipping daily. The 2009 Bustier pin and the 2009 3 Day or Bust pin are on the Pink Wings website and will be in at the end of August. You can pre-order yours today.

The pink ribbon arm warmers are finally on the website and in stock. You can view these under New Products. They come in many different styles. These were very popular at the San Diego and Arizona 3-Day walks. I have white with pink ribbons, black with pink ribbons, white with crystal ribbon, black with crystal ribbon, grey with pink ribbon and black with pink ribbon.
The pink ribbon socks have been a great addition to the Pink Wings website. They are also a popular seller at all of our shows and events.
Pink Ribbon Slippers will be on the website soon. These are adorable and will be great for keeping your feet warm as the weather starts to cool off.

Pink Wings is going green. If you have been to any of our events lately- you probably have noticed that we are no longer giving out plastic bags. By September, we hope to have pink ribbon re-useable shopping bags on our website and at our shows. At home, we are no longer using plastic water bottles. I am trying to cut down on the footprint my family and I are leaving on this earth. We have also started to use Earth Friendly Melaleuca products. If you are interested in going green and would like to hear about the wonderful line of Melaleuca products, please feel free to email me at czinszer@yahoo.com
